Tassie Time: A City Guide to Hobart

Hobart, Tasmania doesn't get enough credit. The buildings are colourful, the weather temperate, and the people most cheery. A perfect pick when tasked with designing an eight-page tabloid-style city guide.

I'm lucky enough to have visited Hobart twice myself. There's an energy of homegrown goodnaturedness there that's hard to shake. I wanted to bring this into my design through colour and unconventional layout.

A series of imperfectly cut-out images shake up the underlying grid. I pulled my colour palette from photos of the brightly coloured colonial-style buildings that line the streets. Three typefaces work together to be eye catching, yet readable and a little nostalgic.
